SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — FBI agents are arresting police officers in Puerto Rico accused of corruption.

FBI spokesman Harry Rodriguez says the arrests of suspects across the U.S. Caribbean territory began before dawn Wednesday.

He says he cannot provide more details because the indictments remain sealed in U.S. District Court. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is to provide details in a news conference from Washington later.

Local newspaper El Nuevo Dia reports that police and corrections officers are among 133 people named in the federal indictments.

Island police have been tarnished by allegations of brutality, including two indictments for murder over the last two weeks.
