EASTON, Mass. An Easton police officer died at his home while on duty Saturday.

According to the Metro West Daily News, Officer Charles E. Hopkins, 40, was found dead in his home in what police call a “sudden” but not “suspicious” death. Officials declined to elaborate further.

Hopkins was a 13-year veteran officer. He leaves behind a wife and three children, according to the report.

Board of Selectmen Chairwoman Colleen Corona said, “My heart goes out to Officer Hopkins, his family, friends and the first responders. This is a difficult time and a tragic loss to our Police Department.”
