Video: Assault of SC cop captured on body cam, police searching for suspect

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Spartanburg police are searching for a suspect who was caught assaulting an officer on the officer’s body camera during a traffic stop, WYFF 4 reported.

The officer stopped the suspect on Sept. 2 for speeding. After the suspect pulled into a driveway, the officer called the suspect over to his cruiser and a struggle ensued.

The suspect struck the officer on the right side of his face, knocking the body camera off.

The officer pursued the fleeing suspect, but was unable to catch him.

The suspect had a pink bag at the time of his escape that police found later to contain a large amount of marijuana. They also found a 9mm handgun.

The suspect is still on the loose and is wanted for driving under suspended license, resisting arrest, unlawful carrying of pistol and possession of marijuana.
