EDEN, N.C. — A juvenile stole a police car and led officers from four agencies on a chase before crashing and being taken into custody, according to the Eden police department.
Eden officers found a car crashed down an embankment on Harrington Highway near Bethlehem Church Road just before 3 a.m.
The vehicle turned out to be stolen from a Reidsville home.
While police looked for the driver, a police cruiser was stolen and driven to Mayodan, where Mayodan police gave chase. The stolen police car crashed into the Mayodan police car as the juvenile suspect escaped.
Officers from the Mayodan and Madison police departments and Rockingham and Stokes County sheriffs’ departments assisted in the chase until the driver lost control of the stolen car at the intersection of N.C. 704 and N.C. 8 in Stokes County.
The suspect, who police did not name, was taken into custody. The Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes and working with the involved police agencies to bring appropriate charges.
