ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan — NAVY Seal Team Six was accompanied on its daring mission by a body-armoured dog.

Because many Muslims consider dogs to be unclean, the disclosure that one was unleashed in Osama Bin Laden’s house will be regarded as the final insult by his followers.

The animal, which was airlifted to safety with the rest of its team after the mission, had been trained to sniff out explosive booby-traps.

It was strapped to a human colleague as the commandos were lowered from a prototype stealth helicopter, which aviation analysts said had been extensively modified to make it less noisy.

White House counter-terrorism adviser Richard Clarke said there was likely to be anxiety about the Black Hawk which hit the walls of Bin Laden’s compound and had to make a crash landing. ‘Pieces of the helicopter may be even now on their way to China, because we know that China is trying to make stealth aircraft,’ he said.
