LOS ANGELES — Three California police unions made public Thursday a website and television ad that call for national police reform by investing in better policing, rather than defunding.

In a joint release, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, San Francisco Police Officers Association and the San Jose Police Officers’ Association announced the launch of investistinpolicing.com in partnership with the United Coalition of Public Safety.

A petition on the website asks residents to call on elected officials to invest in better policing.

The three unions will also each run the video below as a television and/or digital ad in their respective markets.

The ad promotes a reform agenda based on experiences from the officers these unions represent, according to the release.

“Defunding the police is not the answer. Investing in better policing is,” the ad says. “Support real reform.”
