SAN DIEGO — A woman who was shot by an off-duty San Diego police officer during a traffic dispute has been charged with felony child endangerment and misdemeanor drunken driving.
The state attorney general’s office says 27-year-old Rachel Silva willfully put her 8-year-old son at risk by driving while intoxicated and confronting the officer after a near-collision on March 15.
The boy was shot in the knee as Officer Frank White fired at Silva’s car. Silva was shot twice in the arm.
White told investigators he shot at Silva’s car because she responded aggressively. Witnesses said Silva tailgated White to an Oceanside parking lot.
Silva was also charged Monday with driving on a suspended license and possessing marijuana.
