MARSHALL, N.C. — The town of Marshall announced the death of their former police chief who died in a car crash August 2 – just days after retiring, WYFF reported.
Thomas Michael Boone retired on July 31 after a 32-year career in law enforcement, including 10 years as Marshall’s chief of police, according to the report.
“Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved colleague and friend,” the town stated in a Facebook post. “We are fortunate to have had Mike in our presence, both as a law enforcement officer and as our friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
The Houston-area officer sustained facial burns and a cut requiring 13 stitches after a suspect threw a metal coffee cup at him, the Department of Homeland Security stated
