SEABROOK, N.H. — A veteran Seabrook police sergeant and former state representative facing drunken driving charges in Massachusetts has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Town Manager Barry Brenner says 30-year department veteran Mark Preston turned in his badge and gun on Monday following his weekend arrest in Salisbury.
Police say the 51-year-old Preston struck a parked car on Sunday night, forcing that vehicle into two others, then tried to leave the scene. He is free on $500 bail after pleading not guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene after property damage, and a marked-lanes violation.
Salisbury police say Preston was belligerent during his arrest.
Seabrook Chief Patrick Manthorn had no comment on the case. Preston could not be reached for comment.
