NEW YORK — A man who told police he wanted to “take out an officer” slammed into a New York Port Authority police cruiser Wednesday.
According to the Express-Times, Matthew Christian Cash was high on PCP when he slammed his vehicle into a cruiser and two other parked vehicles near the Holland Tunnel.
No officers were inside the cruiser at the time of the crash.
“He told a sergeant with the Port Authority police that he wanted to kill cops,” Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo told the Express-Times.
Police took Cash into custody after a struggle, where he was transported to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He has been charged with making terroristic threats, attempted aggravated assault and reckless driving.
