SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A drunken man assaulted an officer after becoming angry when the LEO offered him a fist bump instead of a handshake, police said.
According to the Argus Leader, police encountered 25-year-old Jordan Glover on Wednesday after receiving reports of an intoxicated man roaming the halls of a building . Police spokesman Loren McManus said officers took the suspect back to his apartment when Glover asked them for a handshake.
“For a lot of different reasons, officers don’t normally shake hands when they’re working,” McManus said.
McManus said that police will “sometimes provide the opportunity for a fist bump,” which he said the officer did. But Glover was apparently uninterested in a fist bump and attacked the officer. A struggle ensued in which one officer was bitten.
Glover faces several charges, including simple assault on an officer.
