In our newest Policing Matters podcast episode, Police1 Editor in Chief Doug Wyllie and retired San Francisco Deputy Chief Jim Dudley discuss the ongoing debate in police use of force, noting that some in the press and the public are making unreasonable and unrealistic demands that officers refrain from use of force even in incidents where it is justified.

They also analyze the winning mindset that helps officers like Jesse Hartnett, the Philly cop who was attacked by a self-radicalized jihadi, survive a critical incident. In addition to winning mindset, Doug and Jim tackle another key component of officer survival: the need for cops to have the tools and tactics to administer self-aid and buddy aid.

Finally, Jim and Doug address the threat ISIS and other terrorist organizations pose to the American homeland, as well as their specific threat to American police officers and others wearing a uniform.
