SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco police officer was knocked unconscious trying to stop a man from sneaking into a music festival without paid admission, CBS SF reported.
Zachary Holland, 24, attempted to gain entry to Outside Lands music festival Aug. 9 by running away from security, SFPD spokesperson Sgt. Michael Andraychak told the publication.
Several officers saw Holland fleeing and attempted to stop him. When the officer closest to Holland reached out and grabbed him, he was knocked to the ground and he hit his head on a cement block wrapped with metal.
The officer lost consciousness while Holland stumbled away. A security officer was able to tackle Holland and he was taken into custody.
The officer regained consciousness on the scene and found a scrap of Holland’s shirt still in his hand, according to Andraychak. The officer was treated and released from a hospital.
Holland was booked for felony obstructing or resisting an officer by means of threats or violence, felony battery on a peace officer, misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a peace officer and trespassing at a paid event.
