Take a deep breath to focus yourself

First of all, I want to wish everyone in Law Enforcement presently or retired a very Happy New Year and an extremely safe one too. My tip today will be a very simple one to remember, because you have to do this everyday to live.
You have to breathe. You have no choice — you breathe or you die, that simple.

We do this everyday without any thought whatsoever, you sleep you breath, you shop you breath, you walk you breath, you go to the gym you breath, you love someone you breath, you talk you breath, you do anything or nothing you must breath.

The thing is, we take it for granted.

Now what I’m going to ask all of you to do on your next tour of duty is to take a deep breath — maybe even two or three — and clear your minds of all your problems that may interfere with your duties as a police officer.

Take that time to relax, relax your thoughts of home or that second job you may have, or even that appointment you have tonight with a cute little guy or gal. Get that mind of yours focused on today, the task at hand, and what’s important right now.

Once you take that deep breath, ask yourself one question: “Am I ready for this day?”

Now go out there and make a difference if not for the public for yourself and your family — and that includes your police family.

Remember: Not today, not tomorrow, not ever will I fall to the evil that will be put before me.

Remember: Breathe!
