TEMPLE, Texas — A Bell County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed early Sunday morning while assisting in a stolen vehicle pursuit, reports Fox44News.

Deputy John Andrew Rhoden, 31, was struck by an 18-wheeler while attempting to lay a spike strip.

Deputy Rhoden started his career with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department in June 2010.

The incident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety with assistance from the Temple Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.
