HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — A Maryland man was arrested after trying to run over several cops and then driving his car through a police station’s lobby in a terrifying scene Sunday night, authorities said.

Timothy Kahl, 24, called police in the Baltimore suburb of Havre de Grace around 9:30 p.m. and said he was going to come to their headquarters and kill an officer, Cpl. Ken Terry said in a statement Monday morning.

Investigators tracked down the caller’s location and learned he was driving near his home, Terry said. When police arrived in the area, they found Kahl driving erratically and saw him strike several parked vehicles before he tried running over the officers at the scene, according to police.

The suspect then fled the area and drove into the Havre de Grace police station, where he struck another parked car and “intentionally drove his vehicle into the front doors” of the building, Terry said. But the crash still did not stop the man’s wild attempts to hurt an officer.

Police said Kahl got out of his car and tried to attack several officers outside the facility. He ended up being tased and arrested.

The suspect, who did not appear to be armed, was taken to a hospital for treatment sustained in the crash and was expected to face “numerous criminal charges,” Terry said. There was no word on what those charges would be.

The police department’s building sustained serious damage, but no officers were injured in the attacks.
