JACKSON, Wis. — Those visiting the Jackson Police Department might notice a new look, with the headquarters now sporting bullet-resistant film on its windows.
Washington County Daily News reports the bullet-resistant safety film applied to the building’s windows prevents assailants from shooting into the window but allows officers to shoot out of it. The film is also smash resistant to protect those inside the facility from natural disasters.
The safety film was created and installed by Safe Haven Defense, an Arizona-based company that manufactures and sells bullet-, burn-, blast- and burglar-resistant products. Jackson PD’s safety film was donated by Steve Johnson, the owner of Safe Haven Defense.
The police department posted a statement on social media expressing gratitude for the generous donation.
“We are very grateful for this donation which will enhance the safety of our employees for decades,” said the post.
