CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County sheriff’s deputy was recovering Thursday morning after being shot during a late night prostitution sting in Riverdale.
Channel 2 Action News reported that deputies were working a vice operation around 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Villages on the River apartment complex.
A deputy had approached a suspected prostitute when an armed suspect opened fire, striking the deputy in the thigh.
Other officers returned fire, but did not hit the suspect. Witnesses told Channel 2 they heard about 14 shots.
The wounded deputy was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspected prostitute and the gunman were taken into custody.
