LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Las Vegas officers shot and killed a suspect after he shot an officer in the face, ABC 13 reported.

Officers were responding to a call of burglary and battery with a deadly weapon on July 26. 36-year-old Bryan Keith Day, who was not involved in the investigation, came out of his apartment to engage officers in conversation.

Day returned back to his apartment and came out again with a firearm. He shot and struck an officer under his eye. Police returned fire and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wounded officer was treated and released from a local hospital.

An investigation is still ongoing, but preliminary reports obtained by the news publication say the suspect was armed with a pellet-type handgun.

This is the sixth officer-involved shooting in Vegas this year, and the third this month.
