NOBLE, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released footage from a dashcam that shows an officer-involved shooting.
The pursuit and shooting involved two troopers who fired their guns at a suspect when he attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon to run them over, FOX 25 reported.
The Aug. 27 incident began when Trooper Brian Conaghan was training Trooper J.J. Finney. The two troopers ended up in a pursuit with the suspect, 40-year-old Brandon Wooten. The pursuit lasted over an hour and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
About 13 miles into the pursuit, both troopers grabbed their weapons and jumped out of the cruiser.
Wooten’s vehicle is seen speeding towards the troopers. Both officers yelled at Wooten to stop, then they fired into the cab.
“At that time, [Wooten] is using his vehicle as a weapon,” Lt. John Vincent said to the publication.
According to the arrest report obtained by the publication, Wooten then crashed into a fence. When the troopers realized Wooten was shot they began to render aid.
Wooten was booked and charged with assault with a dangerous weapons, reckless driving and endangering others while attempting to elude officers. He is currently out on a $75,000 bond.
Trooper Finney had returned to work Oct. 2, but Trooper Conaghan was still out on administrative leave.
