MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Milwaukee Police Department has released bodycam footage regarding an officer-involved shooting of a man who fired shots at officers during a foot pursuit, FOX 6 Milwaukee reported.
The March 24 incident began when officers responded to 911 calls reporting shots fired, according to the report. Video from an officer inside a residence shows an armed man fleeing out the door. The officer pursued him as he ran out of the building before stopping to radio officers outside.
“Officers chased [the suspect] about two blocks, during which bodycam video shows [the suspect] ignoring repeated commands from officers to stop running,” the department stated during a community briefing.

An officer can be heard warning the suspect that he would be tased or shot if he did not comply. The suspect can be seen raising a handgun and firing two shots toward the officers, who then returned fire, critically injuring him.
Video shows officers providing medical attention to the suspect until further help arrived. No officers or other community members were injured during the incident.
The suspect has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, according to the report.
The shooting is currently under investigation by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, with the Wauwatosa Police Department leading the inquiry, according to the report. The three officers involved have been placed on administrative duty pending the investigation’s outcome.
