ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. — Many motorists are feeling pain at the pump these days, including deputies with the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office.

In a Facebook post, the agency said it has drained its fuel budget and it will be months before that budget is renewed. As a result, deputies will no longer be responding to certain calls in person, the agency said.

Instead, deputies will be taking reports over the phone for non-life-threatening calls, calls that are not crimes in progress, and calls that don’t require evidence documentation.

Deputies will still provide patrols and will respond to calls in progress that involve active suspects, the post said.

Gas prices in the area reached a record high this week at $5.19 per gallon, according to UpNorthLive.
