IBM’s new mobile app offers police data sharing in the field

The app enables officers to validate information and compare partial observations, such as vehicle license plates

By Police1 Staff

IBM recently announced a new mobile app for law enforcement officers to securely retrieve and share data in the field.

i2 COPLINK Everywhere is a MobileFirst application and an expansion of IBM’s i2 COPLINK portfolio. By minimizing keyboard and pointing device input, the app enhances officer safety by minimizing the need to concentrate on device interaction in favor of focusing on the situation at hand.

The app enables officers to validate information and compare partial observations, such as vehicle license plates, distinguishing markings such as tattoos, known affiliations and recent addresses, in real time.

Photo match and mug shot identification can provide crucial information during interviews with victims, and witnesses at the scene.

Tap and swipe capabilities make navigating the app faster and more efficient.

With i2 COPLINK Everywhere, officers can discover leads by organizing gathered data, analyze data on maps through time-sequence playback, and share data with other agencies.
