1. Where did your company name originate from?
Trijicon’s name can be broken down into parts. The “Tri” is for the tritium used in our products. The “icon” is to be an Icon in the tritium-filled gun sight industry. And the “j” pulls the two words together – making three dots in the word that resembles our tritium filled night sights.
2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Glyn Bindon was the inspiration behind starting Trijicon®. While visiting friends in South Africa in 1980, Mr. Bindon met a friend who had developed a luminous gunsight. This gentleman had hoped to sell it in America. Mr. Bindon brought a sample back home and soon discovered there was a market for the sight. He thus began his move into the gunsight business—working off the shelf in his home family room.
3. What is your signature product and how does it work?
Our signature product is the Trijicon® ACOG used by the USMC and USA. It is a fixed power, dual illuminated sight (fiber optic/tritium) that is extremely durable and combat tested for over seven years.
4. Why do you believe your products are essential to the police community?
Our products are essential to the LE community because their mission requirements in the areas of accuracy and use- of- force decision making are greatly enhanced by Trijicon magnified and non-magnified optics. In law enforcement target identification, officer and community safety and individual and agency liability are critical needs that are Trijicon products meet and exceed in the areas of dependability, quality and performance.
5. What makes your company unique?
Trijicon® is unique in many ways. It is a small family-owned business that values its customers and employees. The company is innovative and is always looking for ways to improve. The use of tritium and fiber optics in products differentiate our optics from other manufacturers.
6. What do your customers like best about you and your products?
What the LE community likes best about Trijicon products is their quality, durability and dependability under severe working conditions.
7. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?
The most rewarding part of serving the first responder community is the trust and confidence they have in our commitment to provide them with the best product to help them meet their mission requirements.
