JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol investigators said a female police officer had glanced at her laptop before her cruiser hit the back of a tractor-trailer stopped at a railroad crossing on Monday morning.
The 29-year-old officer, whose name has not been released, injured her arm in the wreck on Zoo Boulevard about 8:30 a.m. She was treated and released from Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center.
“The tractor-trailer was stopped here, as required by Florida statutes,” Trooper Joel Johnson said. “The tractor trailer proceeded forward and that’s when the deputy struck it in the rear.”
