San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept. implementing PreSynct system to potentially save millions of dollars

SAN BERNADINO, Calif. - As part of a plan to streamline operations and become less dependent on paper, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has begun integrating a new paperless system that could potentially save the department millions of dollars and help officials investigate crimes more efficiently.

“Right now it’s kind of difficult to pinpoint numbers, since the office supply budget isn’t broken down by individual items,” Ted Byerly, systems development team leader for the department, said from the Hesperia station where he was training deputies and staff on the new PreSynct system. “What we do know is that the department spends $600,000 over three years on ink and toner alone. If you factor in paper, that will be a substantial amount saved.”

The new program will make report filing virtually paperless.
