EDNA, Texas — School resource officers, sheriff’s officers and other Texas law enforcement officials will receive upgraded ballistic protection gear to protect them against rising threats in schools.

According to a press release, Unequal’s SapiShield protective inserts provide officers with lightweight protection from a range of ammunition calibers, including .44, .357 and shotgun slugs, as well as from stabbings and piercings.

“When you consider how threats have been mounting in our school communities, it only makes sense that we have continually been assessing the latest in protective multithreat solutions for guardians who are standing in the gap to help protect students,” Jackson County Sheriff A.J. Louderback said.
