Denver police car crashes, flips onto roof during pursuit

DENVER — Officers pursuing a shooting suspect in west Denver on Thursday afternoon crashed a patrol vehicle and the suspect was later caught and taken into custody.

The shooting happened in the Barnum area of West First Avenue and North Knox Court, police said. The shooting victim, a man, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Officers responding to the shooting spotted a vehicle they believed was being driven by the shooting suspect and pursued it, police said.

Two officers were taken to a local hospital with “minor injuries.”

The shooting suspect was taken into custody in the Westwood area of South Tennyson Street and West Tennessee Avenue, police said.

An investigation is ongoing. There were no other injuries in the incident.
