CHICAGO — A Northwest Indiana man bragged to police that his 2002 Chevrolet Camaro reached 160 miles per hour as he sped away from an officer.
Joshua Curtis, 25, of Wheatfield, told police he fled because he thought he could get away.
The chase started about 12:20 a.m. Sunday in Porter County, when an officer clocked Curtis’ car going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer gave chase, but Curtis continued to pull away even though the police car was going more than 100 mph.
The Camaro crashed when it missed a jog in the road and hit a utility pole in Jasper County. Neither Curtis nor his wife, Mallory Curtis, 24, was injured in the crash.
Joshua Curtis was charged with resisting police, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He also was ticketed for speeding, driving with a suspended license and having false license plates, police said. Erin Guerra
