DES MOINES, Iowa — Dash cam footage has been released of a violent crash and a vehicular attack on an officer during a pursuit in Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register reports deputies attempted to pull over suspect Larry Gowin on multiple warrants and for violating the sex offender registry when the incident occurred on August 6.

A deputy managed to hit Gowin’s car, which then crashed into a tree, but the maneuver did not end the pursuit.

Gowin continued to flee from police in his van and ran multiple traffic lights before running a stop sign, which caused him to crash into another driver.

The suspect then turned his vehicle around and slammed head-on into one of the deputies pursing him.

The deputy was treated at the scene and Gowin was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Gowin has been charged with attempted murder as a result of the incident.

According to WHO-TV, Gowin had outstanding warrants for a work release violation, escape and failure to comply with the sex offender registry.
