Practical firearms training for active shooter calls

A recent study of active shooter situations showed that 66 percent of them occur inside and 41 percent occur in schools, which are typically filled with long hallways. You can use this information to focus your firearms training on distances and settings you may realistically encounter during these types of calls.

One way to determine how far you must be able to accurately fire your handgun, shotgun and/or patrol rifle is to locate the longest hallway in your local school and begin practicing with targets set at that distance. If you’re accurate at that range, you will be better prepared to respond at shorter ranges as well.

Tactical strategies for responding to active shooter calls, both as a single responding officer and as part of a team of first-responders, will be covered in-depth at the Survival American Style seminar in Lafayette , IN on November 7 and 8. You can register online or by calling toll-free: (888) 765-4231.
