SEATTLE (Associated Press) -- Police evacuated part of the upscale Hotel Monaco in downtown Seattle on Sunday as they investigated reports of a possible homicide-suicide in a hotel room.
Officers blocked off part of Fourth Avenue between Seneca and Spring streets and set up a police command post.
A SWAT team and medics wearing bulletproof vests entered the hotel.
The ninth floor was evacuated, KIRO-TV News reported, but hotel guests were still being allowed to enter the building Sunday evening.
Police spokesman Duane Fish said officers heard a gunshot and were not immediately able to contact anyone inside the room. He said police had received reports from a third party about a possible homicide-suicide but had no confirmation.
No further details were immediately available.
