WANAQUE, NJ — These cops bring home the bacon.
Police in Wanaque Police Department responded to an unusual “animal complaint” involving an escaped pig Saturday afternoon. Upon locating the swine on a residential street, officers distracted the animal with food until its owner arrived.
“This probably doesn’t seem like something out of the ordinary but I can tell you out of about 27,000 calls this year none of the other 26,999 matched this one,” the Wanaque P.D. posted on Facebook.
Three officers sprang into action, converged upon the pig and “kept him busy with a few snacks until his owner came down and walked him home.”
The irony that the situation was handled by policemen — who are sometimes called “pigs” by critics — wasn’t lost on these officers.
“Yes we know, the jokes are obvious,” Wanaque cops’ Facebook account said. “We have to admit, at times, this job sure can be fun!”
