CORPUS CHRISTI — A 23-year-old Corpus Christi man forgot something kind of essential when he fled the scene of an alleged late-night drunken driving crash last week.

Corpus Christi police found Juan Gutierrez’s right prosthetic arm in Gutierrez’s 2000 Toyota Camry at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, the department said in a Facebook post. Police also found a 27-year-old passenger, who was later treated for minor injuries.

The two men were driving south in the northbound lanes of State Highway 286 when it drove off of the freeway, dropped to Laredo Street below the highway and hit a bridge pillar.

Gutierrez then allegedly fled on foot, but officers located and arrested him close by without his prosthetic arm.

Officers later gave Gutierrez his arm back, Corpus Christi police spokesman Marc Harrod told the Associated Press.

Gutierrez was treated for minor injuries and released from Nueces County Jail on Friday, according to jail records.
