Texas man steals ambulance to buy fried chicken and cigarettes

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested for allegedly stealing an ambulance from a psychiatric hospital.

According to Newsweek, the man, who is in his 60s, told police he “needed a ride” after they apprehended him at a gas station where he had stopped to purchase cigarettes after picking up fried chicken from KFC.

In an interview with ABC 6, officials said the ambulance had been left idling outside Cypress Creek Hospital, where the man was a former patient.

He was detained and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
