MILWAUKEE — A man has been caught again after his second patrol car heist in six months, WISN reported.

The first clip takes place in December 2022. The video opens with dash cam footage showing a cruiser pulling out into a roadway as its driver giggles. The officer seen in the video, who was conducting a traffic stop, then radios dispatch after seeing his patrol car driving away.

“Looks like somebody just stole my vehicle,” he says.

The driver has now been identified as Daniel Barton, according to the report. Barton drives the cruiser recklessly for about one minute before jumping out of the vehicle and hiding in a trash can.

Body camera footage shows officers finding and apprehending Barton.

The second clip was from May 2023. It begins with body camera footage where two officers, apparently stopped on the side of a highway, see one of their cruisers driving past them.

“Is that your squad?” one officer can be heard saying.

Officers arrested Barton about 10 minutes later, according to the report. He is facing misdemeanor charges in both cases.
