TAMPA, Fla. — Sickened by the public’s negative perception of cops across the country, the Tampa Police Department created a video compilation of the many things officers do every day, Tampa Bay Times reported.
The department included a caption on the video that states negative incidents shown on the news, such as fatal shootings, are rare and “don’t really capture what..we deal with on a daily basis.”
“As police officers, we see people at their best, but more often, at their worst. This is the community’s first look at what a police officer’s job is really like – it’s kind of like riding shotgun with an officer,” they wrote.
The video was released Thursday in response to police critics, department spokesperson Andrea Davis told the publication.
“It can be frustrating for people who work in law enforcement,” Davis said. “It’s what everybody is talking about, but it’s an isolated incident. It doesn’t really show what officers deal with on a daily basis.”
The video has garnered over 3,000 reactions and 4,000 shares on Facebook.
