CHICAGO - The FBI released surveillance photos Tuesday of a man who is believed responsible for robberies at MB Financial Bank branches since last December.
The robber, dubbed the “10 Second Bandit,” approached a teller at the 800 W. Madison branch location Jan. 21 and handed her a note demanding cash within “10 seconds,” an FBI spokeswoman said. The note threatened the teller with physical harm, but the robber panicked and ran out without any money.
The robber used similar notes in two prior robberies, at 5670 N. Milwaukee on Jan. 7, and at 1 S. Wacker Drive on Dec. 21, 2007, according to the FBI. The thief has claimed to be armed, although he has never displayed a weapon and no injuries have been reported.
The FBI describes the robber as a black man, 25 to 35 years old, between 5-foot-7 and 6-feet tall. He is of medium build, with a thin mustache and a pockmarked face, the FBI spokeswoman said.
