MACON, Ga. Bibb County SWAT team members escorted the body of Inv. TJ Freeman to the Wilson Convention Center for visitation Monday morning.

Law enforcement officers are gathering in Macon for the funeral of the Bibb County deputy, who was killed in a car crash Thursday.

Martavius T. Kinder, 24, who was arrested at the scene of the Columbus Road Collision, was charged Friday with felony murder, vehicular homicide in the first degree and reckless driving.

With a lone bagpiper playing, SWAT members in full gear carried the flag-draped casket of Freeman, a K-9 officer and drug investigator who also was a member of the Bibb County Sheriff’s SWAT team.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at a family visitation room the Macon Centreplex at 200 Coliseum Drive and will continue in the arena from 12:30 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service.

Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

As the procession travels from the Macon Centreplex to Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, intersections along Coliseum Drive, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Houston Road up to Sardis Church Road will be temporarily blocked and reopened once the procession passes. During the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Houston Road will be blocked from Sardis Church Road south to Goodall Mill Road and will reopen once the service is over at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Macon Shriners, 222 Mecca Drive, Macon, 31206.
