KENTWOOD, Mich – Video has been released in the fatal shooting of a knife-wielding man who had just murdered his wife prior to his confrontation with officers.

According to MLive, 43-year-old Lamont Gulley stabbed his wife to death April 8. Officers responding to the scene ordered Gulley to drop his weapon multiple times to no avail. Gulley screamed at officers to shoot him and claimed he had a gun.

After a TASER did not subdue the suspect, police released a K-9 in an attempt to stop him. As Gulley tried to stab the police dog, Officer Darrin Cline fired two shots – striking Gulley in his upper back and upper abdomen. Cline was within five feet of the knife-wielding suspect when he fired the fatal shots.

Along with the release of the video, Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth on Tuesday announced Cline was cleared in the shooting and would not face charges. No gun was found on Gulley.

No officers were injured in the incident.
