Off-duty Texas sergeant, wife attacked at gas station

The sergeant and his wife both grabbed their guns and fired at the attackers

PORTER, Texas — A sergeant is recovering after he was attacked while off duty by two men at a local gas station.

The unnamed 20-year veteran of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department was purchasing ice for a trip with his wife Saturday night, KPRC2 reported.

Two men approached the off-duty sergeant and attacked him in what police believe was an attempted robbery.

The sergeant’s wife grabbed her gun and fired at the men, according to the news station. The sergeant also fired at the men with his own gun.

The off-duty sergeant suffered facial injuries. His wife was not injured.

Officials said the sergeant was not in uniform and there is no indication it was a targeted attack.

The suspects are still at large. According to the news station, police are seeking three men in connection with the attack. The men drove off in a red 2000 Chevrolet truck.
