NEW YORK — New York City police officials have reassigned another high-ranking officer amid a federal probe into whether officers accepted gifts from businessmen with ties to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

On Wednesday, the New York Police Department said Deputy Chief Andrew Capul was moved to an administrative position pending further review. He is the head of Patrol Borough Manhattan North. His union didn’t immediately comment but has said the transfer of officers amid the probe was distressing.

No criminal charges have been filed.

Federal agents interviewed at least 20 officers on whether they accepted gifts in exchange for favors. The probe has centered on two businessmen who have ties to de Blasio’s campaign. He has said he hasn’t accepted money from them for his re-election.

Four other senior officials were also reassigned.
