Video: Felon attacks cop, tries to grab service weapon during stop

At one point, the officer’s radio became disconnected

TAYLOR, Mich. — A man wanted in Wisconsin attacked a Michigan officer during a traffic stop.

Jonathan Boyd told an officer during the May 21 stop that he didn’t have a valid driver’s license, TMJ4 reported. Video shows Boyd attack the officer who was attempting to cuff him.

According to CountOn2, the officer said Boyd reached for his service weapon during the struggle and his radio became disconnected at one point.

Boyd attempted to flee when backup arrived, but was detained after a short foot pursuit. Police officials said the officer drew his weapon when Boyd fled, but did not fire any shots.

The officer received minor injuries and is back at work.

Boyd was arrested on three felony warrants from Wisconsin and was charged in Michigan with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.
