Want to survive this job?

You can start by stopping your whining.

Yes, that’s right coming to work miserable because you don’t like your sector, your boss, your partner, and/or your assignment can lead to unwanted and unnecessary stress. In this profession there is plenty of time to sit around while waiting for a job to come, plenty of time for small talk, and time to complain about everything that is wrong (and how you think it should or could be better).

Just stay focused on your own self respect and honor and stay tuned to why you are at work. You are the person who people depend on when everyone else is running the other way. You are the one who will ultimately make a difference.

So my advice to you is this: If you are that unhappy with your job, go back to whatever it was before you got here. Otherwise stay positive, stay focused on your own survival, and you may make it to that goalpost called retirement.

You have to keep your positive attitude or you will be the source of your own failure.

I’m sickened every time I come in contact with a cop making a great living in a great profession but still whining about his or her work conditions.

Love it or leave it — it’s your choice.

Now, I know some of you out there are not making the big bucks and I know some of you have weak or no unions at all. I understand, but don’t let it cloud your thinking and good judgment to stay alive.
