DALLAS — Dallas police were pursuing a red sedan whose driver police believed was armed and wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer when he stopped his vehicle and a standoff ensued.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, suddenly stopped his vehicle on U.S. 67, ignored orders from police to exit his vehicle, and continued driving again slowly before stopping in the Southwest Center Mall parking lot.
According to NBC, the driver exited his vehicle briefly with a gun to his head before getting inside the car.
Dallas SWAT and nearly two dozen police cars could be seen at the scene and cordoning off parking areas.
The suspect then fell out of his vehicle from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the department’s Twitter page, the suspect is deceased.
