Video: Calif. deputy saves infant who stopped breathing
Deputy Cameron Kinsey dislodged a coin trapped in the child's throat
PALMDALE, Calif. — Video released by ABC7 shows the moments a Los Angeles County deputy saved an infant's life.
Security camera footage shows the May 31 incident that began when two women ran across a supermarket parking lot toward Deputy Cameron Kinsey with a child in distress.
The child had stopped breathing and lost consciousness while the women were at a park for a demonstration, police said.
Kinsey performed a "mouth sweep" with his finger and dislodged vomit from the child, ABC7 reports. The 11-month-old boy had swallowed a coin blocking his airway. Kinsey's move turned the coin sideways, saving the child's life.
The child began to breathe and became alert. The boy was taken to a hospital.
