MIDDLESEX COUNTY, N.J. — A law clerk for a Superior Court Judge has resigned after making negative Facebook comments about a fallen trooper, Press of Atlantic City reports.
The law clerk, Leslie Anderson, got in hot water after posting comments on a New Jersey News 12 Facebook post about the death of Trooper Anthony Raspa.
Raspa, 24, was killed while on patrol when his vehicle struck a deer and veered off the road into trees on May 30.
Anderson wrote in a Facebook comment, “that it is sad and heart wrenching for the family members left to suffer the consequences of the Trooper’s recklessness — especially for the deer family who lost a mommy or daddy or baby deer.”
Anderson also posted that Raspa’s death was “not that sad and certainly not ‘tragic’” and told other commenters, “there are people in this country and around the world dying for much less. There is nothing ‘tragic’ about this. Get over yourselves and your sense of entitlement, people.”

In the wake of outrage over the comments, Anderson was initially suspended for two weeks with pay, but turned in her resignation Wednesday.
