TRAPPE, Md. — Maryland State Police are trying to resolve a standoff with a man who called police and told them he shot and killed his wife.
The Friday standoff at his house shut down eight miles of Route 50, a busy highway on the Eastern Shore leading to Maryland and Delaware beaches.
The man, who was not identified, called police at 10:30 a.m. They could not yet confirm whether he had killed anyone.
State police have not made contact with the man and said loud music is coming from the house. Officers believe the man has a gun but no shots have been fired.
A nearby elementary school kept children inside for their safety. Police believe the man and his wife were the only occupants of the home.
