BRIGHAM CITY- A high-speed chase across state lines ended in Brigham City Thursday after police spiked the car’s tires and persuaded the driver to stop.
The driver, an escaped convict from an Arizona jail, was first pulled over in Idaho for speeding. When the officer realized the man was wanted for escaping, the man sped off, according to Lt. Lee Perry with the Utah Highway Patrol.
Speeds reached 120 mph as the man crossed into Utah and he kept driving, almost on the car’s rims, after he hit the spikes.
The man and a female passenger finally stopped and surrendered near the Fourth Street I-15 exit. They were arrested and booked into the Box Elder County Jail, while officials await information from Arizona police.
