CARLSBAD, Calif. — A cruiser caught fire when it was struck by bullets fired from the suspect during a pursuit, 10News reports.
The pursuit began at 3:36 a.m. Wednesday when police responded to a report of a burglary and noticed a white Ford Ranger. Officers attempted to pull the car over, but the driver refused and led them on a high-speed pursuit that reached 100 miles per hour.
Several bullets hit the cruiser and eventually the engine was disabled by a small fire sparked from the gunshots.
The officers did not return fire and were not injured.
According to the report, the suspect was still at large as of 11 a.m. PST.
